Abstract: This paper describes an application of genetic algorithms for designing decentralized nonlinear controllers to enhance transient stability and regulate voltage in multimachine power systems. Performance of the designed controller for a three-machine nine-bus power system is used for illustration. The simulation results show that both voltage regulation and stability enhancement are achieved.
